[ Back to Main Page ] Nikky Finney at Open Books in Seattle, WA, 3/6/03 SEATTLE - On March 6th, 2003, 7:30 p.m., OPEN BOOKS: A POEM EMPORIUM, 2414 N. 45th Street in Seattle will feature the illustrious author/poet Nikky Finney as she reads from her newly published collection of poetry and prose, The World Is Round. Of this book, Walter Mosley says "The World Is Round opens all my doors and windows and airs me out with a cold and truthful wind." On the following evening, March 7th at 7:00 p.m., Finney will again read and sign books at the SEATTLE ACADEMY'S ORVIS THEATRE, 1100 12th Avenue. Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences is an independent secondary school with a single mission: to prepare students to participate effectively in modern society. The philosophy and goals of Seattle Academy are founded on the conviction that enduring education implies preparation for a rapidly changing, complex world. On March 8th at 7:30 p.m., Finney will complete the Seattle leg of her book tour with a reading and signing at the ELLIOTT BAY BOOK COMPANY, 101 S. Main Street. Nikky Finney – The author’s first collection of poems, On Wings Made of Gauze (William Morrow, Inc.), was published in 1985. Her second book, Rice (Sister Vision Press, 1995) is a collection of poems, stories, and photographs that won the PEN American Open Book Award in 1999.
